Ms. Mai Luu, CPA, CMA, CFE, has been an integral part of Commonwealth Capital since 2018 and currently serves as the Vice President of Program Operations. In addition to her interim role as Controller, Ms. Luu is set to assume the title of Executive Director of Internal Compliance in 2025. In her capacity, she oversees the financial modeling and securities document production and execution of all Blue Chip Program™ services, ensuring that portfolio companies fully benefit from Commonwealth Capital's strategic program offerings. Her deep financial oversight and compliance expertise are critical to maintaining the firm's Blue Chip Program™ operational excellence and client satisfaction.

Ms. Luu is a naturalized U.S. citizen who speaks three languages: English, Vietnamese, and French. She has two B.A.s, one in French Language and Literature from Vietnam National University and the second in Business Administration from the National Economics University of Vietnam. In addition, Ms. Luu holds an M.S. in Accounting from Northeastern Illinois University. She is an IL-licensed CPA (Certified Public Accountant) and has the CMA (Certified Management Accountant) and CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner) Certifications.

Ms. Luu is not just a professional, but also an active member of the industry. She is a member of the Small Business Committee of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) and serves as the IMA Chicago Chapter's Vice President of Educational Activities. The IMA Small Business Committee, which she is a part of, addresses issues that impact small and medium-sized organizations and suggests solutions to standard setters and regulatory agencies such as the SEC, FASB, SBA, American Banking Association, FINRA, IRS, etc. Her involvement in these organizations and committees ensures that she is always at the forefront of industry developments, which benefits both her and the company she represents.

Heralding from a rich accounting experience in various privately held companies, she has been primarily responsible for all aspects of the operations of the accounting department within Commonwealth Capital, from financial statement preparation to internal controls, treasury, audit, and tax compliance.

Ms. Luu also brings to Commonwealth her entrepreneurial spirit, having launched several small businesses overseas and in the United States, including founding a healthcare brand product e-commerce channel in the US and Vietnam markets. She also has experience as an emerging technology enthusiast in mining digital assets.

As a member of Commonwealth Capital’s senior management team, Ms. Luu works closely with key clients in its Blue Chip Program™ area, primarily in financial modeling, company valuation, and securities pricing. She also collaboratively works with senior team members to develop, implement, and review company policies and procedures to ensure that the company operates in a manner that aligns with its values and goals while maintaining compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and best practices. Ms. Luu also serves on the Commonwealth Capital Income Fund-I Investment Policy Committee.

Mai currently resides in Chicago. With a passion for the arts, she published a series of mandala coloring books for children and adults and has created other mandala-inspired works as a form of artistic expression and self-discovery.
